Coming Home

We brought Jonathan home on Saturday, the 5th. Andrew and Coleman had not seen their baby brother until we got in the car with him that morning. I love the look on Andrew's face when he sees Jonathan for the first time.

I couldn't get Coleman's expression, but you can see him pointing to Jonathan.

a carload of boys - Andrew loves his new seat in the back. I think he likes being able to see everything that is going on.

The ride home was so sweet. We kept hearing these two little voices say things like, "I love you Jonathan Jackson." "Look Jonathan, there's the lake." "Look Jonathan, there's the train." Every landmark we passed they pointed out to him, and he was showered with "I love yous" the whole ride.
Of course, things were pretty chaotic when we got home. We tried to capture those first few moments together as best we could. I have completely accepted and am fine with the fact that for the next few years, there will probably be about two pictures of our entire family where everyone is smiling at the camera at the same time.

Coleman's first time to hold Jonathan.

Coleman has really surprised us with how protective he is of the baby. I thought Andrew would be more interested than Cole, but the opposite is the case. Everytime Jonathan eats, Coleman is right there making sure everything is okay. He follows us to every diaper change, brings us what we need, and asks often to sit on the sofa and hold Jonathan. Andrew is interested too, but he has other interests that vie for his attention. They have both adjusted better than we could have hoped to having a baby in the house. With the possible exception of all the shouting that we seem to do around here.

Jonathan gave the boys sticker books and a DVD of the Polar Express when he got home. The boys had a gift for him too, and I'll share it in another post.

First nap in his own bed. I love when they fit sideways in the crib. It's such a short time.
