Overheard: Edition Spies and Spanish wives

Though I am finished with Christmas postings, I am still woefully behind in blogging.  However, these happened today and I knew I would not remember them long enough for them to be posted chronologically.

In the car on the way home from the grocery store, Jonathan was talking away to me about a myriad of topics.  The last sentence of his monologue was this:  "And then we found the secret passageway and that's when I knew there was a spy in our midst!"

Then, on the way to music tonight, Coleman and I had this conversation:

C:  Mommy, what do you need to know before you get married?
M:  Well, you need to know that you love God first and then your wife next.  And if you do that, everything else will work out just fine.

(Note:  We have talked a lot lately about Coleman's wife, whoever and wherever she may be.  He knows that God has picked the perfect girl for him and He will show Coleman who she is when Coleman is old enough.)

A little later. . .

C:  Well, I hope He (God) didn't pick me a Spanish girl!
M:  Um, why not?
C:  Because I won't be able to understand what she's talking to me!

Christmas Day

We got to Gigi and Papack's just before ten, I think.  Everyone was dressed and ready for fun and brunch when we got there.  I made a lot of pictures that day, but none of our food.  Brunch was delish as always, and then we let the boys open their gifts.  We loved seeing Uncle Hugh again, and he was a big help getting their army gear assembled!  The grown-ups opened their gifts while Brin and Jonathan napped that afternoon, and then we had a yummy supper which included Brent's first smoked ham.  It was just too good!  After supper we sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and then kissed Brin one more time and headed home to Gainesville.  It was a super day with our family.  Here are the pictures.

Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning was super fun again this year.  Once again, Brent and I were able to get showered and dressed before the boys woke up.  Every year I think we won't be able to do that again, but it keeps working out!  Brent told the boys they were to stay in their rooms until we came to get them, and so when we heard Jonathan was awake, we woke the others up too.  We stopped for a couple of excited pictures on the stairs before we headed in to the living room.

 Then off they went!

Jonathan was doing his victory dance while hollering, "Oh yeah baby!  Wow!  Cool!  Awesome!"

When we went to Lenox to see Santa and the Pink Pig, Brent took Andrew and Coleman into Macy's to let them pick out some gifts for me.  Andrew chose a red bracelet.

Coleman chose one that is sparkly and a great neutral!

And Jonathan gave me some very sparkly fancy earrings!

Brent got some new tongs for the grill,

some new shoes,

and a big surprise. . .

a Shop Vac!

We ate breakfast and then opened our stockings.  Santa brought some fun surprises along with our traditional favorites, including Granny Smith Apples all around!

Brent was very excited Santa heard his many hints and brought him Bear Claws for pulling pork.

We got the boys dressed and then headed off to spend the day at Gigi and Papack's.
