Jonathan's Party - Part 1

Saturday morning, Gigi and Papack and Nana and Pop-O came to celebrate Jonathan's first birthday. He started out the party a little unsure of everyone, but after he ate his lunch he warmed right up and was his usual happy self. Today I'll share the pictures up through the cake, and we'll see the presents on Thursday.

Here's the birthday boy enjoying his big boy whole milk. He has also really taken to honey biscuits and pb&j.

Nana fed him his favorite turkey and rice for his lunch.

talking with Gigi

When I started thinking about his party a while back, I thought I would do a circus theme since that's what his bedding is. But then, I realized teddy bears would be a much better match. Jonathan absolutely loves his bears! Here's the big cake with our traditional hat and sunflowers.

And here's his smash cake on the red plate.

Everyone enjoyed baked spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread for lunch. The yellow bowl is full of teddy grahams. Jonathan was the only one who ate any, but he loved them!

He was very happy while we sang to him, but wasn't too sure about the whole cake thing. Andrew and Coleman took a while to warm up to their first cakes too, but eventually they really liked them. Jon Jon just didn't care for it much at all.

Brent even tried to give him a taste to see if he'd come around.

In the end, he decided to stick with his thumb.

I know the cake looks like he really dug in, but in fact Brent cut into it to try to get Jonathan to see what to do.

The teddy bear cake the rest of us enjoyed was chocolate, which is always a big hit around here. However. The biggest hit BY FAR was the Blue Bell Peppermint ice cream. It was the yahoos first time to try it, and I think this picture speaks for itself.

This is Andrew's bowl while he was licking his fingers clean. He looked at me and declared, "Mommy, that bowl is clean. You can just put it back in the cabinet. You don't even have to wash it!" Of course we washed it.
More to come. . .

Love your teddy bear cake. I didn't know that Blue Bell made peppermint ice cream. Yummy! For the first time we just saw some Blue Bell in the store. I think they must have just started to sell it here.
