Days to Remember

So two years ago today I started this little venture. At the time, I had several friends who had family blogs, but I had never considered a blog for our family stories. It just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. However, one morning a comment from a resident at the hospital changed my perspective.

Andrew, Coleman and I had had a particularly chaotic, yahooish morning. We started our days around 7 back then, and usually our mornings were pretty quiet and calm. That day though, every time I tried to sit down to eat my bagel, something else went haywire. Finally, after about an hour and a half of non-stop activity, the boys sat down to watch something on TV, and I sat down to send Brent an email about what all had just happened. I thought it would be a funny thing for him to read after rounds, and that it might make him shake his head and smile at the antics of his offspring.

He replied to my note and said he had forwarded it to some of the other residents. One of them asked if I had a blog. Brent said no. The girl told him I should start one. So I did.

I had no idea how this would turn out, but I know I never dreamed how much I would enjoy chronicling our family adventures this way. How fun it is for us to look back over these posts and see and remember our yahoos when they were smaller. It is amazing to me that other people are interested in our Quiver, and I so hope that if you spend some of your time here, you leave with a smile or a chuckle in return.

When I was in college, 10,000 Maniacs had a popular song called "These Are Days." I loved those words as a twenty-two year old, but I hear them so differently now as a thirty-something mommy. (And I know luck had nothing to do with it. But it's still a great song.)

These are days you'll remember
Never before and never since, I promise
Will the whole world be as warm as this and as you feel it
You'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky
It's true that you are touched by something
That will grow and bloom in you
These are days you'll remember. . .
