November 2013 - Hiking

Two different Saturdays in November, we headed up to the mountains to hike with the boys.  The first week we went over to Amicalola Falls.

Inside the welcome center, there were some rescued birds of prey.  It was great to hear the boys share what they remembered from science the year before.

When we got back to the bottom, there was a possum wandering around with a wildlife specialist.

The boys got to interact with her and even pet her!  We told them this was the only time they could ever touch a possum!!

I asked what was wrong with her eyes and the answer amazed us.  Possums store fat in and around their eyes.  This little girl possum had extremely fat eyes.  Her keeper blamed it on her love of banana pudding!

We found a nice spot for a picnic lunch after the hike.

The next week, we went to Anna Ruby Falls and Unicoi State Park.
